Nu Wah Mahjong Collection | By Bee Blunt

A beautiful game. A rich history. A seat at the table.

Introducing the Nu Wah Mahjong Collection by Bee Blunt—a luxurious set of custom-engraved acrylic mahjong tiles celebrating heritage, sisterhood, and the beauty of cultural connection.

Where tradition meets storytelling, each tile has been thoughtfully reimagined through the lens of Black history, style, and culture while honoring the Chinese origins of mahjong.

Crafted from glossy acrylic with intricate engraved detailing, the collection features elegant gold accents, rich heritage colors, distinctive layered edges, and a sophisticated tortoiseshell-inspired backing. Every design is a small work of art, created to make gathering around the table as meaningful as the game itself.

The Story Behind the Tiles

Our custom illustrations weave cultural symbolism into the traditional suits and honors of mahjong:

  • Bams | The Hoops: Inspired by iconic bamboo hoop earrings, celebrating Black women's style and self-expression.

  • Craks | The Colors: Featuring Pan-African flag imagery, symbolizing heritage, identity, and pride.

  • Dots | The Cowries: Reimagined as cowrie shells, honoring ancestral connections, beauty, and prosperity.

  • Jokers | The Women: Elegant cameos celebrating the beauty, strength, and individuality of Black women.

  • Winds | The Journey: Featuring The Negro Motorist Green Book, a powerful symbol of travel, freedom, and community.

  • Flowers | The Garden: Delicate botanical illustrations inspired by the gardens of generations of grandmothers and the traditions they nurtured.

Crafted for the Art of Gathering

Designed to be played, admired, and passed down, our engraved acrylic tiles bring heirloom-inspired elegance to a beloved game.

Whether you're gathering with lifelong friends, learning the game for the first time, or continuing a family tradition, Nu Wah is an invitation to create new memories while honoring those who came before us.

Because the most beautiful thing about the game isn't just the tiles. It's who we gather around the table with.

Create Your Legacy. Pull Up a Chair.
